Teaching Second Grade
I had the privilege of student teaching in a second-grade classroom at P.S. 184Q in Whitestone. This teaching experience familiarized me with a balanced literacy approach where I was able to provide different levels of support in reading and writing. Approximately one-third of my students spoke little to no English, teaching me the importance of modifying my instruction accordingly. In efforts to cater to the differences of all learners, I utilized multimodal instruction. I also utilized the GO! Math curriculum and manipulatives to further students understanding of mathematics.
